Musical visionary Grimes returns with creative video titled “Eve Is Online...” teasing new album “Psyopera”

Eve Is Online...

Six years after her last album, Grimes is back. She has been thinking about the apocalypse.

The Canadian artist dropped a cinematic trailer this week titled Eve Is Online... announcing her forthcoming album Psyopera. The visuals are exactly what you'd expect from Claire Boucher at her most unhinged and visionary: alien statues, vintage war footage, intergalactic battle ships, and Grimes herself cycling through looks that range from angelic to elfish warrior, livestreaming at the end with comments and likes cascading over her in real time.

The trailer's narration rewrites the opening of the Gospel of John for the AI age. Drawing on John 1:1, it pivots: "On the first day, God created the large language model." It's maximalist, earnest, and genuinely unsettling. Which is on-brand.

Grimes has been vocal about AI for years, and in a recent Interview magazine conversation she doubled down. "This is a bigger deal than Jesus," she said, citing the dangers of military AI. She also clarified she doesn't use AI in her music, only in visuals.

No tracklist. No release date. Just a psychedelic manifesto and a signal that Psyopera is arriving fully formed.
