Simulation Blue Trailer
Simulation Blue is a conceptual short science fiction project and the official trailer for Tanerélle’s upcoming full-length album of the same name. American singer, songwriter, rapper, actress, and producer Janelle Monáe lends her voice to the trailer as the Earth archives player’s voice.
Feeling is not a feature you can switch on. In Tanerélle's Simulation Blue Trailer, a voice describes practising emotion before finally experiencing it. The question is not whether a machine can feel. It is what feeling might cost.
There is something tender about the admission. The speaker has heard that humans experience things they were not programmed for, and tries to imagine what that might be like. Practice becomes a kind of longing, with the desire arriving before any certainty it can be satisfied.
